The management philosophy of the Mizuho Leasing Group conveys the group’s mission to “Connect needs to create the future” and vision to “Be a creator of a sustainable world.” We strive to take the lead in resolving social issues and contribute to the attainment of a sustainable society, and consider respect for human rights to be an essential part in realizing our management philosophy.

Human rights are the outcome of humanity’s many-year process of attaining freedom. They are the indelible and inviolable rights of all people. Because respect for human rights is the foundation for freedom, justice, and peace in the world, we believe that it must be addressed with a global standard of conduct that is expected of companies. Accordingly, the Mizuho Leasing Group has incorporated respect for human rights into its Corporate Code of Conduct, which lays out specific guidelines of behavior for directors and employees.

The following is our human rights policy, which we established to reaffirm our responsibility and commitment on human rights to the public.

1. Scope and Expectations

This human rights policy (hereinafter “Policy”) applies to all directors and employees involved in the operations of the Mizuho Leasing Group (hereinafter “Group”).

Mizuho Leasing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Mizuho Leasing”) encourages all customers and clients of the Group, and all other business partners involved in the operations and services of Mizuho Leasing, to support the Policy.

2. Support for International Standards

We will fulfill our corporate responsibility to respect internationally recognized human rights expressed in the principles of basic rights stated in the UN International Bill of Human Rights and the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.

3. Compliance

We comply with the laws and regulations of the countries and regions where we conduct business activities. In the event that international human rights are not being properly protected by a country or region’s laws or the enforcement of said laws, we will pursue means to comply with international human rights principles to the maximum extent.

4. Human Rights Due Diligence

We will conduct human rights due diligence, which is a process to identify, prevent, and mitigate actual and potential negative impacts in the businesses, supply chains, and other business relationships of the Group, in order to fulfill our responsibility to address said negative impacts.

5. Dialogue

We place priority on engaging in dialogue with stakeholders about the Group’s business activities, and strive to properly address human rights issues related to business activities.

6. Education and Training

We will inform all directors and employees of the Policy, and educate and train them on respecting human rights, to ensure the Policy is incorporated and effectively implemented in all of the Group’s business activities.

7. Remedial Measures

In the event it is discovered that the Group’s business activities have caused or intensified negative impacts on stakeholders, we will take action in good faith with the business partner involved and work to correct the business activities that were the cause. In addition, if it is discovered that the Group’s business activities are directly connected to a negative impact, or suspected of being connected, through a business partner, we will strive to take remedial action by approaching said partner.

8. Public Disclosure

The Policy and other initiatives regarding human rights will be made publicly available on our website or other forms of media as necessary.

9. Approval and Reevaluation

The Policy has been approved and formulated by the Board of Directors. Going forward it will be revised by the Board of Directors as needed.
