Joint Formation of Rental Scheme for Nemuri SCAN, Medical Device for Nursing Facilities

　Mizuho Leasing Co., Ltd. (“Mizuho Leasing”) has set up a new rental scheme for the Nemuri SCAN monitoring support system in collaboration with Paramount Bed Co., Ltd. (Head office: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kyosuke Kimura; hereinafter “Paramount Bed”). One of the largest manufacturers and sellers of medical and nursing care beds in Japan, Paramount Bed offers products and services that contribute not only to improving the convalescent environment, but also to streamlining medical and nursing staff operations. The new rental scheme has launched on December 23, 2019.

　Nemuri SCAN is a sensor sheet that detects body movement. Simply by placing it under the mattress, it can be used to remotely monitor in real time vital signs such as respiratory rate, pulse rate, and sleep state, and whether the user has woken up, sat up, or got out of bed. Nursing homes and other healthcare facilities can use it to monitor users at night and ascertain their living conditions, thus improving safety for users and reducing the workload of nursing care staff.
　Leveraging its knowledge of the medical and healthcare field and expertise in equipment, other assets, and financing, Mizuho Leasing has formed and launched a rental scheme called “PB Nemuri SCAN Partner Rental” in collaboration with Paramount Bed. The scheme enables clients to rent a complete remote monitoring system consisting of Nemuri SCAN, computers, smartphones, and other equipment. It requires fewer initial expenses than purchasing, and rental fees decrease each year the rental agreement is renewed. Moreover, rental fees include maintenance service and insurance, so clients can use the equipment with peace of mind.

　Due to changes in Japan’s social structure such as a declining birthrate and increasing aged population, the importance of the medical and healthcare field has grown. In response, the Mizuho Leasing Group has made medical and healthcare one of the focus areas in its Sixth Mid-term Management Plan (FY2019 – FY2023) and is facilitating the expansion of service businesses with clients.
